DATA BACKUP AND DISASTER RECOVERY SERVICE

Server Continuity – This protects your locally stored data when it is stored properly on 1 or more servers and users save their work to the server location. Hardware options vary depending on storage size needs. Provider recommends 2.5X capacity for backup to active data to facilitate room for new data and keep full functionality and storage of backups for at least 6 months. Our preferred solution, Datto may offer hardware at no additional cost with a 3-year agreement. Backup runs hourly, is stored both locally and in the cloud for redundant protection and fast recovery.

Microsoft Cloud Continuity SAAS – Microsoft cloud stored data can be corrupted, deleted, or saved over. Microsoft does not store revisions of data, and this can result in loss of data or email messages. Provider recommends all inboxes have a backup solution to retain copies and data for restoration of files of full cloud systems if problems occur.

Affordable Mass Storage – Servers storing large amounts of data can make server continuity out of reasonable costs for some instances. This especially applies to data that includes images, design files, videos or other large file types. For these scenarios Provider recommends affordable mass storage for local and cloud backup of data. Backup requires purchase of Hardware for local file storage which is customizable to your data needs with growth in mind. Software is then used to store data in the cloud for additional protection.

Workstation Continuity: The Provider recommends storing all critical data on servers or in cloud storage. We understand this is not always possible. Workstation continuity provides an option to backup workstations for special circumstances requiring backup of workstation images or data.

System Recovery Time: The Provider wants to make it clear that the time needed to recover data backups varies. The best estimate is given to help you determine the cost of that potential downtime and show the value of having the right backup in place. Virtualization refers to the ability to work from an alternate solution whether that be local hardware or the cloud. This allows some or all users to continue to function based on the overall hardware performance of the implemented solution. Without virtualization new hardware is required to restore functionality. Additional costs will apply if temporary hardware is set up and then replaced with new hardware once the systems arrive.

Frequency of backup: The frequency your backup solution runs equate to the total potential lost work. Hourly backups should make the max lost work 1 hour, whereas daily backups you would be at risk for up to 24 hours of lost work.

Backup Solution Hardware: The Provider recommends hardware for a local backup for server systems. This enables the fastest possible restoration of system functionality once hardware is procured and setup ready to be installed.

Image Recovery: This refers to a full backup of the server that can be installed intact- with programs and files restored once it is put back in place. File level recovery would require all systems and settings to be installed and configured and data transferred to the newly setup system prior to functionality.

Disaster Recovery: Backup plans provide protection for the data and verification of successful backup services. Any other time to restore data, recover systems in the event of hardware failure, natural disaster, or other circumstances will be billed hourly unless included in your service order.
